What to Know Before Your First Visit to a Hair Salon
Visiting a new hair salon for the first time can come with a few questions. You may already know the haircut or color you want, or you may simply know that you want a change.
Both are completely fine. At The Oasis Studio By Min, we believe a good appointment starts with a conversation. Before choosing a service, we want to understand your current hair, what you would like to change, and how you normally care for your hair.
Here are a few things we recommend knowing before, during, and after your first visit.

Before Your Appointment
Know What You Would Like to Change
You do not have to know the exact name of the service you need.
You may want your hair to be lighter, a different haircut, more volume, or a color that is easier to maintain. Simply tell us what you would like to change. We can then discuss options based on your current hair.
Bring a Reference Photo
If you have a haircut, color, or style you like, bring a photo with you. It gives your stylist a better idea of what you have in mind.
Keep in mind that the same look can turn out differently on different hair. Hair texture, thickness, current color, length, and previous chemical services can all make a difference.
We use your reference photo as a starting point and adjust the plan to suit your actual hair.

Share Your Hair History
If your hair has been colored, bleached, highlighted, permed, or treated with other chemical services, let your stylist know.
Previous services can affect what is possible with your hair today. This is especially important when you are planning a major color change.
If you do not remember the exact name or date of a previous service, simply share what you know.

During Your Appointment
Start With a Consultation
Before getting started, we want to understand three simple things: what your hair is like now, what you would like to change, and how you want to care for it afterward.
This conversation helps us discuss the right options, whether you are considering a haircut, color, styling, perm, or hair treatment.
It is also a good time to ask about the expected appointment time, maintenance, and aftercare.
Choose a Style That Fits Your Routine
A hairstyle should work with your everyday life, not only look good when you leave the salon.
If you only have a few minutes to style your hair in the morning, let us know. If you enjoy blow-drying, curling, or styling your hair, tell us that too.
Your daily routine can help guide the haircut and styling options that make the most sense for you.
Think About Color Maintenance
Different hair colors and techniques require different levels of maintenance.
If you prefer a color that grows out naturally and requires less frequent touch-ups, let us know. If you do not mind regular color appointments, there may be other options to consider.
When discussing color, we look at both the result you want and how you want to maintain it.

After Your Appointment
Ask About Hair Care
Before you leave, feel free to ask how to care for your hair at home.
Depending on the service, your stylist may recommend ways to wash, style, protect, or maintain your hair between appointments.
If you have had a color, perm, or other chemical service, following the recommended aftercare can help you maintain the look and condition of your hair.

If You Are Not Sure What You Want
That is completely okay.
You do not need to arrive with a complete plan. Tell us what you like, what you do not like, how you normally care for your hair, and what you would like to improve.
From there, we can have a conversation and look at options that make sense for you and your hair.

Yes. Previous color, bleach, highlights, perms, and other chemical services can affect your current hair and future color results. Sharing your hair history helps us plan the service more carefully.
It depends on your starting color, previous color services, and hair condition. A significant change from dark to blonde may require more than one appointment to work toward the desired result while considering the condition of the hair.
It depends on the type of color, how quickly your hair grows, and how much maintenance you prefer. Your stylist can discuss an appropriate schedule based on your color and goals.
It depends on the service you are receiving. If you are unsure, ask when making your appointment so you know how to prepare.
Appointment times vary depending on the service, hair length, and condition of your hair. Haircuts generally take less time than color, highlights, balayage, perms, or other chemical services.
Of course. If you are unsure about a step, product, result, or aftercare recommendation, feel free to ask your stylist during your appointment.
Aftercare depends on the service and your hair condition. Your stylist can recommend suitable products and simple steps to help you maintain your hair between appointments.
The timing depends on your service, hair growth, and maintenance needs. Your stylist can discuss when it may be appropriate to return for a refresh or touch-up.
